Recycling wood is highly beneficial to the environment. Deforestation has been established to have a negative impact on climate change and recycling established as a viable source of sustainable wood. It is based on this that wood from our production is recycled.
Sawdust and other byproducts of the forest-products manufacturing process don't go to waste. These byproducts are collected, ground to an appropriate size, and used for fuel to run electric cogeneration plants.
Privately owned, cogeneration plants make electric power to run mills and factories, and reduce a forest-products company's dependence on public utilities. This has the added benefit of making more of the utility's energy available to other consumers.
On a national basis, forest-products companies are among the most energy-efficient of all manufacturing industries, furnishing up to 75% of their own energy needs through cogeneration.
Creation of our furniture results to leftover chips and bark. The chips and sawdust are made into wood pulp for paper and other products. Not too long ago, those leftovers would have been burned as waste.
Bark is used for landscaping, and to produce paper. Modern forest products operations are very efficient at using every part of a tree. Nothing is wasted.
Our byproducts also also offer high-quality wood chip bedding, wood chips, bark mulch, shavings, sticks and sawdust for a wide variety of purposes. Just like our smoking chips, these products are almost all made from local woods and have undergone residue checks.
The areas of application of these products range from use as litter in riding halls and paddocks through to use in outdoor facilities, gardens and for constructing paths and right through to use as wood chip bedding for modern livestock farming/transportation and for reptiles and pets.
